Black smoke on start up.

When I sart my 01 L. I see a bit of black smoke coming from the exaust, and in a couple of days the tail pipe gets black. Is there any thing wrong with my truck? I have a chip and filter on it and under 2 thousand miles. I was told that these trucks run rich, but just wanted the imput from you guys.

The truck runs like a bat out of hell, I can easily smoke the tires through second gear. All my life I have been driving 120-180 hp ricers and thought they were fast.

When I finally drove a 400hp(with chip and filter) truck, I came out with my knees shaking. Believe me I like the feeling, but I don't think the passenger does. It is a feeling that I dont want to go away (addictive). Thus my question about the smoke from the tail pipe. I am a bit concerned.

On a different note: I only have a chip & filter on my L, and I am afraid to punch it. Some of you guys are running 8-10 lower pulleys and uppers. Dont you get the chills when you get on it

If it's 'black' then it's probably just a little extra fuel. If it's 'blue' then it might be a little oil in the intake adaptor burning off. I would't worry about either. My tips are always black too.
