Carfax reports

I just ran the VIN on my 01 that I purchased used with 7800 miles and it comes up with 3 records...in order to get the details i have to pay em 15 bucks and im just wondering if anyone has done this before. I dont want to waste 15 bucks if its just going to be 3 title changes or somesuch as this. I've never done carfax reports before so basically i'm just wondering what the report shows becuase if it lists title changes or times vehicle is sold or somesuch then obivously the 3 records would be something like vehicle sold to original owner, vehicle traqded to dealership, vehicle sold to me...etc...

Basically I dont want to waste 15 bucks if this is all its gonna tell me. Anyone have experience with carfax?

Post your vin on this board or the nloc board. alot of times there are fellow L owners who can retreive the info for you at no cost.

I will also say that i think carfax is worthless. I pulled one on my truck before i bought it a couple of weeks ago and it was clean. I have since found out that it has had some body work done to it. I would guess that if anything happens to a vehicle that is not delt with by an insurance company it will not get posted to carfax. for instance if damage is done while at a dealership and the dealership fixes the damage in there body shop. Or the same with an individual. Body shops dont provide information to this service.

Argent L,

Like you, I also looked in to the Carfax report since I bought my L used. I paid $15 bucks just to see that the four listed records were the mileage at the times that the truck had been registered and passed inspections. Waste of money for me...

Yup thats what im afraid of, or actually thats what im hoping the records are LOL just dont want to waste the money to find out. However I am really curious because I was waxing the truck today and I noticed alot of overspray on the right rear stepside/fender area. I looked over the truck, crawled up underneath and there are no signs that the truck has been repaired. Only curious thing i noticed was an x marked in a grease pencil type beige paint on the inside of the passenger door jam near where the rubber hinge type thing is.

Not sure if this is a bodyshop type marking or if it came from the factory like that.
