Pinging with E-FAn and water pump?

Is there any possibilities of an engine pinging after installing the E-fan along w/ Ccobra R water pppump? I noticed tonight that my engine is pinging during light acceleration , especially un 3rd or 4th gear under low boost conditions. COuld it be that I didn't put something back together correctly? I was told you don't need a reburn after this install right? What could be causing this, it was quite a loud pinging after todays install

Actually, It should be just the oposite. You just reduced the amount of load the engine had to carry.
Maybe you just got ahold of some bad gas.

....or you can hear it now with the new new fan and water pump where before the noise covered it up.

A thought

If it was me I would have corrected the SES light ( from air kit install ) before I installed the E fans and pump. Now you have complicated the problem since you have pinging and an SES light.

Hey Doug, the SES light has not come on since yesterday (knock on wood), it might have been because the inlet tube connecting the MAS to the TB was slightly over the tabs in the MAS. I will drive it for a few more days, if the pinging persists I will have to get my chip reburnt. It only appears to be in a light load under slight boost conditions.

Thanks

What we used to call tip in pinging was pretty common.. Before getting a reburn I would troubleshoot a little more. See if it goes away with fresh ( good quality ) gas or if you have access to 100 octane unleaded invest 8 bucks or so and see if 2 gallons of 100 octane in 1/4 - 1/2 tank of gas fixes it. That info will help your tuner

You are right about the gas Doug. Here in CA the 91 octane through what I have heard is a POS. I only use good "quality"gas such as Texaco and Shell. Is tip in pinging when you feed in the throttle slightly an make about 2 -4 pounds of boost? If so that is what is happening to my truck. I can hear it in 3rd or 4th gear under those described conditions. My chip has been burnt for my mods. Here they are:
JDM single J39 program
JDM cold air
Boost bypass
Breather cap
Line mod valve w/ 4x4 tranny pan
JDM 4# lower pul
NGK TR6's (gapped at 0.40)
JDM E-Fan w/ Cobra R water pump and 170 thermo.
Silver Bullet (on order)

Brasil,
Pull the breather cap and see if it goes away, mine did. I've decided that unmetered air in the mix is a bad thing.
