Thumbs up Dyno Day

Here are my dyno numbers from todays local SVTOA dynoday at Lucky's Motorsports. It was hot and humid (you can see the temp that I wrote on the dyno sheet). It was strapped to the dyno as soon as I arrived. No cooldown. Ignore run #3 because of the spike. The torque convertor unlocked and locked back???. I'm happy with 406.7 HP and 498 FT. LBS. Torque.

I know the numbers are corrected but the heat and humidity seen to effect the forced induction vehicles more.

How do you like those new NGK plugs? How do they compare to all the other stuff. By the way Great HP Numbers !!

The reason I ask is that since I got my new engine combo together, some things have changed. The truck doesn't seem to want as cold of a plug as it used to and it seems to get along just fine on a leaner chip, and it is making more power. The only real thing I changed was the ported heads and the exhaust ports were the only real change there. Flow went from around 140cfm to over 180 at the same lift. Now the engine seems to be real forgiving in terms of fuel quality and what not....it wont detonate and it doesnt like cold spark plugs. So now I'm going the other way and looking at the TR-5's. Any input ?
Thanks
Dale

Cool

Dale,

I've had the TR5 IX Iridiums in for about a month and a half. They seem to perform the same as the regular TR5's at the track (ET & MPH). The bonus is the smoother idle with these plugs.

It's been my experience (with my tune) that the hotter plug offers better throttle response and more MPH on the big end. My plugs burn a perfect color and hold up well. I've never went colder than a TR6. I tried the TR6's twice and both times I lost about a 1 to 1 1/2 MPH on the big end.

I bought the TR5 IX Part# 7397 at Carquest for $57 tax included.

Rob G has been running these same plugs with a 6# pulley.

Cool

Here is a low res video of my first pull. You can hear how the longtubes sound with the single Magnaflow muffler.
