Thumbs up End links installed

I didnt think it would make that big of a difference, seeing how the front is only lowered a little over an inch........... But I put in shorter end links and I can actually feel a difference in turns. Nowhere near as much body roll/sway.

Thanks to the guys that recommended this - for $15, its a must-do for any lowered truck

Got mine at Autozone. Might be cheaper at pep boys or napa I'm not sure.

They're 3 3/8" mounting length

I know what you mean. I dropped my front nearly 2". Took me a while to purchase a set. Boy, what a difference. Now I just need to get some for the rear.

This might sound weird, but after I put on the Lakewood traction bars..........the turns around my house suddenly got very easy to take at higher speeds.....

My theory is that when you take a left turn for example, the truck's weight shifts to the right suspension, the leaf spring compresses, making the snubber hit the leaf spring, stiffen up the compression of the leaf spring, making the susp. actually firmer throughout the turn, kind of like a progressive rate coil. And when you have a stiffer suspension actuated by the actual turn(snubber hitting spring), this decreases the sway and allows for a faster, sharper turn.

This is my theory and it may or may not be true........all I know is the truck started turning better with the trac bars on, and now MUCH better with the new end links.

Hey JBL, I got the measurements down but when they ask for what type of vehicle what should I say 99F150? Everytime I tell the parts clerk that the part is for a Lightning F150 they look at me like i'm crazy. Also is that same measurement on the endlink for a 3/4 dropped L or would i need something different?

Thanks man!

Lay

Zeus: does the 3/4 drop lower the front 3 or 2 inches? (Some kits advertise for a reg. f150, and ours are 1" shorter - ex. my springs are "2 inch f150 springs" that give me a 1" drop)

If the front is lowered 3 inches : You'll need the 1 5/8", which are set no. 9.8120

If it is actually a 2 inch drop : You'll need the 2 5/8" , part no. 9.8117

Mine lowered it a little over 1", so I got the 3 3/8"

You might not have to ask for them, as the person behind the counter probably does not even know what an end link is. You can probably just look around the isles for it - Plastic box with yellow label : Energy Suspension "performance sway bar complete end link set"

hope this helps

Depends on whether you want them to be self-adjusting or not.

Badbolt:

They have a 4 1/2" that would work on stock I think. Part. no 9.8121 - I'd recommend them even for stock trucks. My susp. has even firmed up - not as much bounce/jarring as before. I think its because the rubber spacer part of the stock end link is replace with a metal tube..........

JB,

I don't think that you're using the right lenth end links. I purchased the 3 3/8" ones but they're too long. After inspecting the picture on the back of the package, I realized that the 3 3/8" measurement is only the "tube;" it does not include the thickness of the bushings or washers. So really they're more like 4 7/8" - very close to stock length. Since I lowered my truck via FRPP, I think I need some 2" links.
