Angry Important, Everyone must read...Jaycorp, Hacking...

I know you all have read this on a earlier thread..

JayCorp Customer,

It was recently brought to our attention that JayCorp's web hosting
company had several of their servers hacked, one of which
www.jaycorptech.com is hosted on. JayCorp Technologies practices sound
security procedures which include moving customer data and credit card
info off the server frequently.
While we believe the hack on our server should have no impact on JayCorp's
customers we feel it is our obligation to proactively notify our customers
of such activity.
If you have reason to believe your personal information was breached
please contact me immediately and the matter will be investigated.

Sincerely,
Jason Allerding
JayCorp Technologies

I got an E-mail last night stating, Thank you for ordering from us and your confirmation number is blah, blah. I never ordered anything from the company that just sent me the E-mail.

I checked with the company today and someone ordered something from them with my Visa number. I guess the person got it from Jaycorp when they hacked into their computers. I called my Visa company and cancelled my CC. They are investigating.

Check your statements for suspicious activities right away, what ever card you used to order something from Jaycorp with, I suggest you call the company ASAP and check for recent charges.

The company who I told someone was using my Visa to make charges, just called me, they told me the person who used my CC has made several orders with him recently using several different card numbers. They said they were going to contact my CC company so they can try and catch the low down SOB.

Sorry to hear that DL, unfortunatley there are so many companies and web sites out there that store CC numbers but don't do it securley enough, that this kind of thing happens all to often.

Hopefully all will work out.

Soo... the place the bad guy ordered from doesn't bother to do any form of address verification for their credit card transactions? Just run the card through, thankyouverymuch and ship the stuff off? Won't be in business long at that rate.

With your card cancelled you are fine, and the transaction will be charged back to the company who accepted the bogus transaction, along with a $25-$35 chargeback fee. Likely the guy doing the fraud won't have anything happen to him, as law enforcement normally has too many larger fish to catch to worry with small time credit card fraud. You're out the time to get a new card, the merchant is out the parts and chargeback fee, and the bad guy gets free stuff. Aint no justice in the world sometimes...

Unfortunately for the poor crook that stole my CC number from hacking into Jaycorps site, the order was still pending. So he didn't recieve jack ***** of what he ordered. He! He! Chalk one up for the good guys.

thanks guys, According to my CC company, I was lucky and no other charges were pending on the CC acct I had closed. The CC company sent me out another CC with new accct. numbers.

I got lucky, The company that the a$$hole ordered from, E-mailed me a confirmation about what I would be receiving for my order. If they hadn't done that, I wouldn't have known something was smelled fishy. What gets me is, the guy placed a order illegally using my CC, how did the company he order from get my E-mail address???

You think the guy wouldn't have given them the correct E-mail address.. I'm glad they E-mailed me, that is how I found out someone was trying to use my CC.

The recent events...

Hello everyone,
I am the owner of JayCorp Technologies and just wanted to quickly address the recent problems mentioned in this thread.
First, I have a lot of customers that read this forum and I want to apologize for any inconvenience you have been caused by this mess. We have always put a lot of effort in to the security of our customers information, but someone was able to break in to our hosting company's server and get the information "the back way". It was a small percentage of our customers who had information on this server but allowing even one person to have their info compromised is unacceptable in my mind. After learning of the incident I immediately pulled all info off the hosting company's server and moved the JayCorp site to a server at our location where I have full control over security. Customer information and credit card numbers are now in no way stored on the web server. After this incident I think we are now one of the safest places to order from.
I know we will probably lose some customers because of this, but my first reaction was thinking about your best interest. That is why I notified everyone about the hack instead of ignoring the problem and hoping customers would not know where the compromise occurred.
The sad part of this whole thing is the lack of interest on the authorities part in helping track down the individual(s) responsible. Unless there is huge losses by many people no one considers it a "real" crime.
Anyways, I just wanted to get that out. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at jallerding@jaycorptech.com.

Jason

I appreciate your taking the time to clear things up here. I'm sure that the members who have used your services are happy to hear it from the horses mouth and it is refreshing to see a company step up and admit the issues.

Please read the Vendor Rules here before posting your contact info again.
First, I have a lot of customers that read this forum and I want to apologize for any inconvenience you have been caused by this mess.
You stated you had lots of customers here . Perhaps you should consider becoming a supporting vendor. Recently a supporting vendor advertised a special to the F150Online membership and sold $7,000 in product in 3 hours.

Thanks for your cooperation

Hey Jason,

I appreciate you telling all of us about someone hacking into your network.

I put this on here to inform everyone to check their CC's for unauthorized charges.

I'm not attacking Jaycorp in any way. I really appreciated when I placed my order and you were out of the mounting pins, you found me some in a hurry and I received them on a Sat. morning. I'd say that was excellent service.

You went above and beyond to make sure I had my parts I ordered.

I will still order parts from you. I'm sure the rest of the people on here will do the same.

Hey Doug, Ease up a little bit on Jaycorp.. He wasn't selling anything on here.

DL,
I posted that I appreciated vendors like him who were honest and forthright and I gently reminded him of the Rules he agreed to when he registered.
I was VERY easy on him ... I could have deleted the thread or edited out his contact info.
As you well know the posting of contact info to a commercial venture is a direct violation of the vendor rules. Just because you don't like the rules doesn't mean that they don't apply.

Doug

I just called my CC company and over $6000 worth of chit was charged to my account......a few of the charges were for over $1000 each. I didn't charge any of it..well except for those strippers but that was only a few hundred

Anyway I would suggest that anyone who ordered from them check their CC account. I am lucky enough to have a great CC company and they put a hold on all the "strange" purchases until I OK the ones I made.

Good luck fellas........Joe
