Angry F@%$^&%g bent driveshaft!!!!

Can someone please tell me how the hell my 2001 "L" with 15,000 miles can have the following happen:

Leaking pinion seal
Bad speed sensor (made it look like the trans was dead)
The Clunk
The "spray paint can" cold start rattle
3 sets of foglights
Noisy rear brakes
Rattle through the steering shaft
and finally:
A BENT DRIVESHAFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not drag race
I do not road race
I do not pretend its a 4x4
It is not modded
It is not beaten, abused or neglected
And no, I didn't run over anything!

So, why is my driveshaft bent?

Its a real good thing that the truck is as nice looking and powerfull as it is because quite frankly its a piece of *****!!!

sorry for the rant!
Ryan

Sorry to hear about your problems. My guess is that it's the shiny badge mod causing the problems. Unfortunately, this mod also voids any and all warranties you might have on the vehicle.

On a truly serious note, you just got a bad individual. I don't think your problems are representative of the breed. See if you can invoke some sort of Lemon Law where you live, if there is one.

I have had the fog lights replaced once and they need it again. I had a high speed vibration they never fixed even though I returned it to the service dept. several times. The service guys scratched my wheels and my stereo system was stolen. I had to sue the Ford dealer to recover the damages, which included damage to the door and interior. Window makes a clunking sound. I had to weld lower control arm. I have wind noise. My warranty was voided because I used an aftermarket exhaust system and had a 2" hole in the factory air box. If you don't like it get rid of it. Ford won't do **** to help you unless you threaten them with legal action and that may not help.

BUT......? You have a "product" that was "built" with quality being job 1. ?

Um.... Here.. lets not dwell on the negatives. Look at how rich and lush the seat is! And check out those clear tailights! And boy do those 18 inch wheels say "performance" or what! Have you seen the white face guages?

Seriously, I have been involved w/design and engineering of Ford products for 10 years now. And in my experience and observations with them, quality is NOT job one. We/they do start off with the best of intentions, but by the time production rolls around a lot of areas have been compromised so as to cut cost and therefor quality. (most of the time)

I constantly am amazed at the unrealistic demands they place on us supppliers. And the hand washing from people not wanting to take liability/responsibility? Ya, that helps out a bunch.

However, where else you gonna go buy a new 380hp "american" truck that has a better quality?

Smile Time to trade up!

Well on a happier note, it seems that I am going to be a father for the first time. Since the "L" is not a very family friendly vehicle I think I am going to have to buy something larger. The wife says that an 02 HD is okay by her so thats probably what I will end up with. Anyone know if my Bassani will fit on the HD?
