Way off topic but I need help

I need some help. A friend of mine needs to put a device on the back of their car. (Kind of like a bike rack) This little device is going to weigh about 300lbs. The problem is that he cannot find a way to stiffen up the back end of his car. He has a 1998 Chrysler Concord but no one makes stiffer shocks or springs to handle the extra weight. The manufacture of the device says all you need is a class II trailer hitch for this to work. Does anyone know where I could point him to get this setup correctly and safely. We have tried the dealer, local truck/suspension shops, and a few places that sell trailer hitches.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

John

Is it for one of those electric wheelchair carriers? You can find the hitch here : http://www.reesehitch.com/89073_e74224.html and any local mechanic should be able to install it for around 50 bucks.

Thanks for the info on the gadget, but I need shocks for the car not the unit it self.

Anyone else?

does it have rear leaf springs, or coil springs?? if leaf springs, you can get an "add-a-leaf" or "overload leaf spring add ons" from JC Whitney, if coil springs, get some inflatable air bags that you stuff inside the coils, to firm them up

I really dont think any suspension work is neccesary, its no different than having a couple people in the back seat basically the car will ride a little lower in the back but there should be plenty of suspension travel left.

There are special weight distributing hitches designed to distribute weight even between all 4 wheels but those are more for heavy loads like 700 pounds plus.

Its hard to realy help though not knowing exactly what the "device" is...
