TR6's - How tight?
I've hear to use anti-seize. Is this a good idea?
And I've also heard "finger tight, then 1/16 turn" but that just doesn't seem to be tight enough.? Any help would be great Thanks  |
You will be luck to get a 16th of a turn when I did mine I ran them down until they were good and snug but not forceing them tight.

I used it the first time I changed the plugs. But going forward I'm not going to bother at all. I plan an changing the plugs every 10k miles. Also I will pull any plug and check it at any given time to make sure the engine is running good. So if I suggest that if you are a person to put the plugs in a forget about them for a lot of miles, then use anti-sieze. Anything else don't bother. |
Sal recommended the "snug plus 1/16th of a turn more" and my NGKs have been in 14,000 miles with several WOT passes made too. I used a copper-based anti-sieze.
Of course, he also said "he doesn't use anti-sieze" but I did. What the heck does he know?;) Snug/finger-tight plus 1/16th of a turn more and you'll be OK. Dan |
Maybe I am way too anal but I used a torque wrench.

If you go to www.NGK.com it has a section under "tech tips" that tells you how tight you should go and other suggestions. I got to hand it to you guys that even try to change these plugs. Sorry....www.ngksparkplugs.com and then tech info

I go good and tight then I tighten them up a little more.
