Question How much oil in a 2002?

Hey guys, I remember seeing a thread about not putting too much oil in our trucks. True? If so, how much should be applied? I have my oil changed, so I need to tell the techs how much to put in, especially if the right amount is actually less that the truck can hold. If I recall it was like only 6 qrts. or something right? But the truck technically can hold like 61/2 or seven? Thanx for any help.

So I should tell them 5 1/2 only? No more? This will not be harmful? I would be worried if the engine did not have enough oil/lube.

I fill mine until the level on the dipstick is half way between full and add, which in my case takes 5.5 qts.

6 qts. would fill it completely, but doing this can cause oil to be sucked into the intake boot and TB.

When we design a dipstick, some "padding" is built in. Just stay in the crosshatched area.

I run 6 quarts, and I have very little if any oil in my intake.

I had the rubber boot off today when I flushed the coolant system, and it was free of oil.

I let the oil drain completely and install 6 quarts. The level is about 2/3 on the stick.

5.5 will take it up halfway on the cross hatch for most trucks
