Oh yeah, Im insured with Allstate. Maybe this info. will help some of you out.
Iam in the same boat as you Skank Dog, 1 1/2 old 01 with 9700 miles, second car serves as a daily work car. The only difference is Iam not in Teaxas, but New Jersey@ $441.50 every 3 months.........Hows that for a kick in the ***!

Mine is about $2500 CDN per year (approx. $1650 US). That includes the '01 L, '01 Aurora, '91 Olds Delta 88, 18' aluminum boat with 50hp Merc, and the house.

I figured out a while back that I have paid close to $40,000 in insurance premiums over the years. Total claims? 1 driver's side window on a '88 Mustang LX 5.0 and that was about 10 years ago.

I know, I know- it's there for when you REALLY need it, but it still sucks paying out all that cash.

I'm 32 yrs old, in Howell (near Brighton), clean record and am paying about $750 a year through auto owners.

You know, it's these kinds of rates (ya'll are paying) that will KILL muscle car sales.

Thanks for the replies all.

DEIMATT - I tried farmers, but have not heard of that other one...I will make some more calls today. I have done all my quotes over the net, and they have never been any different from calling and talking to a real person before, is there haggle room in the quotes or what? Why would it be different.

I can't figure out why my rates are so high either, other than that the L is classified as a high performance vehicle and I am under 25...but the fact that I have never hit anything or anyone would weigh in my favor..but apparently not.

I tried AAA already and they were still pricey. I will take your advice and not lower my coverage. I'll look into getting some renters insurance too.

I know progressive gave me the best rates on the bike and ski, but were far off on the cars.

Skank & others

With state farm pleasure vehicle status less than 7500mi annually Don't believe they have anything less? All you have to do is look at kids' records with regular vehicles, much less performance vehicles to see why their insurance rates are so high!

Brings up a good point. I don't want to know how much I've paid in...

Once you hit 25, and/or get married, your rates should go down significantly. I'm paying far less on three vehicles, including the L and a Z06, than I used to pay on one before the magic birthday...it's all about statistics for the insurance companies...

Saleen everyone has some valid points..

It wasnt the shopping that really concerned me...It was the rate increase you said you took for no reason..And that all of them went up..

That is why I think your territory took a state wide hit.

Yes your age..marital status and all have alot to do with it..But that is a big jump you had to take.

Make sure you are listed as a either a pleasure vehicle(but your gonna have to have another one insured)

Or if it is a daily driver..Make sure you tell them it is less than 5 miles a day to work.

Bugs me that calling the agents isnt helping..Computers and automated systems usually miss ways to lower..But keep trying!!!

Matt,

Thanks. Should I tell them my commute is under 5 miles...even if it is not? Or should I just tell them that they are both pleasure vehicles?

Any repurcusions to doing this?

Try Geico or Progressive. Quote you right on-line. I use a local broker and pay around $1500 a year for the L & a 2001 330i BMW. You are screwed if you are single and under 25.
