Transmission Noise

Anybody have this one? Slowing down from anywhere above 20, when the L gets to 20 there is a noise that sounds like a bad bearing whining. I took it to the dealer, we both thought it was the rear end. So they took the rear end apart, but every thing was ok. With the truck rolling you can turn the engine off and the noise goes away, so it has something to do with the hydraulics in the trans. Just wondering if anybody else has this. It showed up at 36,000 miles. It now has 40,000 and hasn't gotten any worse, though.

Actually, that makes me think it's not the tranny, but the engine, the tranny doesn't care if the motor is on or not, if the flywheel is turning, so is the pump, so all the hydraulic functions of the transmission are still working.

Hope you get it figured out,
