wr rated goodyear F1's

I was wondering if anyone hasw been paying attention to tirerack's website. They list the F1's as WR rated tires. This isnt bad but just makes me curious if these are the newer versions of these tires. All the ones I have seen are ZR. Just wondering.

i was wondering the same thing. i am in the market for new tires, and i was on tirerack's web site and all i could find were WR rated F1's. it also seems that the speed rating is higher on the WR tires. does anyone know if the WR's are better or if i should stick with the ZR's?

thanx for the help...chris

I beleive the tires on the 03's were mentioned in several articles as being upgraded of some sort,,, this would make sense if the WR tires are higher speed rated,,, just some cents to it though.

I ordered 2 W rated F1's from tirerack a few weeks ago, they were the same price as the Z rated ones. When they arrived at my door I got Z rated tires. It didn't make a difference to me so I kept them.

When I ordered mine from them several months ago, Bernie said they are the same. They pull a few random ones from each lot and spin them and classify them as Z or W based on how they do. I wanted the Z but only the W's were available. Same price and basically the same tire, according to Tirerack.

speed rating info

I believe the zr rating was top of the line until the new w and y ratings were introduced. Here is some info from tirerack. I believe the w and y rating are the top of the line.

Z=149 MPH, 149mph and over, Sports Cars
W=168 MPH, 168 mph, Exotic Sport Cars
Y=186 MPH, 186 mph, Exotic Sport Car

just something my tire dealer told me. He said it was better to get matching tires that come from the same factory and not mix them and even try to get ones that were all made by at around the same time of the day, kinda like batteries. Just wandering if this was true or just something he said. He did run the serieal numbers on mine, and all 4 had been produced at the same factory on the same day (kinda neat, even came from the local factory)
