Question S/C longevity questions?

Hey ya'll, I've got a few supercharger questions.

1) Are the rotor blades "sealed" against the housing as they rotate or do they simply have a close fit?

1a) are there any other seals that will wearout?

2) Are the bearings (not gears) lubricated by grease or are they in an oil bath.

What I'm trying to decide on is, what boost level should I go with considering how/how much I drive.
Or....? wether I should do the pulley swap only when headed to the track?

Thanks WOT

Thumbs up The blower

Will last as long as you dont heat it up to hi-hell..... this super charger is good for any thing from a 6 pounder and under.... If you want it to last....... You will be very happy with a Chip and a 6 pounder, Powercooler will help make a much better boost.... And as for the other Quiestion's...... Ill leave it to some one who can fill you in on better info...... Im not good at explaning thing's on a computer..... Or im just to lazy to type all of it.... lol

I'll post pics of my supercharger with 21K miles a little later...It had an upper from 7-15K miles then a lower 3lb from about 12K to 15K miles. From 15K miles to 21K miles I've had a 6lb lower only.

I had the intake and blower off my 99 when there were no pulley's ever installed and 13k miles. I also had it off w/ a 5lb-6lb lower and 1.5lb upper after 21k miles. No change in the blower...the teflon wears off the blades even at stock boost. I am still running the snout from my 99 because it had the smaller upper and all seems well.

The s/c has its own internal oil. You can check its oil level by removing the allen plug on the front of the case.

I have 33,600 miles on my 01 now with a lower pulley on since about the 5,000 mile mark with no s/c issues although I've never had it apart to check tne rotors, etc.

You are denying yourself some unreal, great fun without installing a lower pulley(up to a 6 lber), filter kit, and a chip.

I don't have any teflon coming off of the blades except where the blades are rubbing...The blades weren't rubbing until now 15K-21K miles.

I can double-dog guarantee that you will wear the front snout bearing quicker with a smaller upper/bigger lower pulley. But, the real question is "by how many miles or how much?"

With bigger pullys you gotta worry about the motor more then the blower...

The plastic coating on the rotars is not teflon and my guess is the oil that is all over your rotars is why they are peeling.

Other than some people messing up the snout trying to change the upper pulley I can't say I've heard of one failing even from over revving. It's a pretty stout unit.

I don't know if you were talking to me or not...The coating is not peeling on the supercharger rotors. I never had oil on my rotors except for after the new engine install...

Thumbs up

Thanks for the replys!

I drive like grandpa most of the time and actually most days never see over 2-4 psi on the stock guage. But 3-4 times a year I like to have some fun at the strip.

AND the worst part is? I drive 500 miles a week minimum and am setting the goal of getting 100k out of the motor/supercharger. So.... I'm trying to find a happy medium (if possible) of getting into the high 12s (warmer temps) and yet make this thing live.

Do many of you do a pulley swap when going to the strip? I was thinking of running a 2# daily and either a 4# or 6# for strip trips.

WOT
