Was Ready to trade for an '03 Cobra last night, until....

I was INSULTED!!!!!!!!!!!!! They were offering me $22,000 on my truck!!!! Are they freeking insane?!?!?!?!?!?!? 8600 miles on an '01, impeccable condition, and you're offering me $22K. If I had been hungry, thirsty, or in any way stressed out, I'd of done a "Joe Pesci" on the guy.

For anyone in South FLA who is interested in buying an '03 Silver Cobra, off the showroom floor with about 10 or 11 miles, for MSRP, and perhaps even less, depending on the salesperson. go to World Ford of Pembroke Pines. It is so sweet!!! The guy was willing to deal, but in my awestruck condition of sitting and looking at the beastly snake, I made the mistake of saying I was trading in a Lightning. After calling in and determining what my payoff was, he made his offer of $23K on my trade in. I laughed, shook his hand, and left.................I left him there rambling on about, what if I can get you black book value, blahblahblah.....

Eat me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, if anyone wants to go buy one outright, without a trade, I'd seriously consider going by there ASAP...........also, if anyone is considering a daily driver, there's a red SVT Focus there too...............It's about 18,500 or something. If I wasn't having my credit checked before my closing, I'd seriously consider that Focus. Sweet little ride!

later,
JC

What's wrong with the cobra as a daily driver?

I know how you feel.. I have wanted to pull a nicki santoro (joe pesci) on many a sales man in this area.... you would be better selling your truck out right and using the cash as a down payment, only draw back is the taxes are paid on the full ammount of the sale rather than the after trade in balance

i can't see how you expect to get a whole lot more than that on a trade,

i paid 28,300 for my 01 brand new, as soon as you drive off the lot, your losing 3 to 4k, add miles, another model year, and another one coming soon and thats about where your at

you may get lucky somewhere, but you'll have better luck selling outright

you figure if they give you 24 for yours, they'll have to sell for 26 or so, i would never pay 26k for an almost 2 year old vehicle,

not a salesman at all, just an observation

Unfortunately thats the way it works, when I sold my '01 way back last March, Carmax only offered me 23,000 for it with 9000 miles.

that is just the way car dealers work, the buy or trade in a car at "wholesale price" then mark it up about $4000 dollars and put it on their lot. do the math, 23,000 plus $4000 equals about the $26,500 that I sold my truck for to a private party. Of course my truck had a little extra HP and TQ and ran 12.40s but that is another story, some people are looking for that, but some people wouldn't want it.

chris

So very true beefer. I took a 5K hit on trading my 99 for the 01. Now after paying sticker for the 01, Iam going to have to keep this truck longer. Unless Ford comes out with a new bodystyle Lightning and more hp. WHAT, they are..UGHHHHHH

Trade-in is always a lot lower than retail. A few thousand dollars on a vehicle like ours. I would try to sell it before I traded it in.

26k for a low mileage '01??
Bring it out here to San Jose, CA. Friendly Ford had a used 15K+ mile '01 for $35, 999 . Funny thing is, they'll get it too!

I believe that Redneck Ferrari, my friend and neighbor who owns www.performanceautosport.com not too long ago sold and shipped a bone stock exceptionally clean/low mileage used Lightning all the way from here in Virginia to somewhere in California.

I couldn't believe that they couldn't find a closer truck, but apparently the price was right.

would have been normal market price around here, but apparently worth an additional 1000 bucks or so to ship to cali in comparison to the prices out there?

Brian,
They only had one...........silver coupe, $34K and change, which is MSRP.............Guy said they got a couple black ones coming in, one coupe, one vert, but those are sold already.

I'll say it once again, for anyone who is legitimately interested, they need to rush out there..............anyone who has been going around the different south FLA dealers, like Plantation Ford, who had like a 5 to 7k markup on 2 of them, will likely ****** that baby up in a heartbeat.

trade ins get actual acash value, not

even wholesale! ACV is 2-3k less than wholesale. It is much better to sell yourself, especially if you have an extended ford warranty! Makes it much easier to both sell and get top dollar. Primarily why I buy extended warranties. Advertising in a national magazine like Autoweek might help bring a higher price, too.
