Dare I ask a chevy question on the almighty L forum

I need to by new cat converters for my chevy impala ss and have done plenty of research about them. these damn things are expensive! anyway, i have posted a question on the impala forum and have yet to get any responses. I was wondering if any of you would be kind enough to offer me some advice or opinions about this. Besides, i trust you 'L' and Ford owners opinions better than i do the people on the impala forums. Thanks for checking this out. Click the link below to see my impala thread.

There was an great article in GMHTP about a year back, doing flow tests on various cats.

I believe the best flowing cats were made by carsounds (or something like that) and could be had for about $100 each.

You may want to check www.cz28.com and do a search for cats on there. The site is primarily based around LT1 (same engine as you) F-Body cars.

Theres alot of aftermarket parts for the impalas so you can probably find an h-pipe with hi flow cats on it cheaper than buying factory stuff. Try doing a search on the net or go pickup a super chevy magazine and flip through it.

You might be better off just getting an standard h-pipe with no cats at all as well, that should only run you like 100-150 bucks.

Thanks for your replies. I have already found a set of carsounds on e-bay that would fit the bill. Have never even heard of carsounds before, I'm glad I asked you all. I knew you the "L" community would hook me up. Thanks again.

Question

Already said it once ... CARSOUNDS are one of the best flowing cats and they are relatively inexpensive new.

BUY THE CARSOUND CAT

Just make sure that you get the correct inlet and outlet diameter...and no, I don't know what it is on an Impala...do a search on one of the Impala boards and I'm sure you'll find something.
