Lakewood Traction Bars!
I have had the Lakewood traction bars on my F150 for over a year now and they are holding up quite well. They've made a big difference on my truck. In an "effort to preserve my clutch" I take off pretty hard. The traction bars really firmed up the grip.
I paid $0 for them. I was inquering (by e-mail) at Mr. Gasket about a short throw shifter for the F150, and the guy says they will send me the traction bars. I just had to let them know what I thought of them. Now that's value for the dollar!
Yes. I would reccomend them!

For installing the lakewoods...
can they be installed alright without acking the truck up any? I don't have any type of jacks or any kind I'd prefer jsut slide under and bolt the suckers on. Anything too complicated?

LAK-21715
for the 2wd ford truck correctly?
Also I cna't see well enough but do you think just spray painting OVER the current paint with a few layers etc with a red color would work w/o snading/prepping the bars? I want them to match my future red calipers

I’m probably going to order a set my self... as for any comments on the quality, you guys are talking about welded metal ... there is not a whole lot of engineering going on besides the basic measurements and materials.
The truck tracks are a thicker steel, but it’s not like your truck is going to twist steel...the bars connect quickly when you punch it, making for a strait launch. Even if your truck twists when it launches, it’s not going to be enough to bend steel.
The hardware that comes with the lakewoods is trash...they should know better. But for the cost of replacing the hardware it is not worth jumping into the much more expensive trucks tracks..
Just my .02 as usual

The twist of neither the trucks body nor the launch pressure can bend steal that thick and that nicely welded. Unless you have crazy amounts of HP...then I don’t know. All I can say is, when you see the lakewoods in person, they are not wimpy at all. You're talking about something that is twice the price for so little difference. They are both great, but why pay double when that extra steel thickness doesn’t really help you. I guess if you only use your L for racing and are heavily modded, then the TTracks could be a investment type of thing. I drive mine daily, my truck is only lightly modded, and I race only in the winter.
Again, just my point of view..

The Lakewoods will not bend under the directional load they are subjected to. Incidently, the load that would bend them in the plane they run in would completely destroy everything behind the tranny. The plates did bend but won't break (they would be the weak link in the system but refer to previous sentence as we don't have 2000 lb ft of torque), so mine are locked in now bent and all, and I'm not planning on having passer by's looking at my traction bars. The rectangular bar is the one that's important
The money I saved will support a weekend of partying!
