Unhappy Overhead Console Display Problem...please help

Hey everyone, long time, no read...

I have a problem, can anyone tell me an easy way to fix it?
The display on the overhead console that shows outside temp and compass direction is malfunctioning. All of the liquid crystal segments are lit....it looks like a bunch of eights. They flicker about once per second if that makes a difference.

I've unhooked the battery, no change.
I took out the temp sensor behind the grill, it checked out (resistance-wise)

What else can I do? I would rather avoid a trip to the dealer if I can fix it myself somehow.

Thanks in advance
Brad

I had this same problem on my Explorer. Hopefully you are still on warranty. Dealer will have to replace computer. At least that was my dealer's solution about 4 years ago.
Good luck.

I had this problem after I hard-wired my V1. Try unplugging and then re-plugging the harness that goes to the display in the console. It worked for me.
