Questions before I buy...
Questions before I buy...
OK, after two and a half years of having my my truck, I've decided I want an "L". If I don't get one now, I won't be able to get one until I'm too old to enjoy it. I do have a question or three, though.
Would some of you look at the back of your cab in the bottom corner where the plastic molding meets the sheet metal?
I'm curious if the molding vibrates enough to rub the paint off. This truck will be a daily driver and I'm in Illinois, where they use salt on the winter roads. I just don't want the cab to look like the early '70's pickups with rusted out cab bottoms.
Have any of you noticed nicking in the plastic molding around the wheelwells? (For those of you who haven't coated it with rubber)
It also seems that most people are keeping these trucks only a couple of years. Is there anyone driving theirs daily that plans on having the same truck 4-5 years?

I drive mine daily, and plan on keeping it forever
Seriously, I do plan on keeping it for a long time, Eventually I will probably get another daily driver so that I can baby the L. It's not a bad daily driver, i havent had any problems except that it isn't the most fuel effecient vehicle on the road, so expect to spend alot on gas, and the Goodyear F1's wear pretty fast.

I've driven mine only 6 or so months and I've put on over 20K miles.
April 28th to End of September. Middle of July to present.
I have a daily driver and it doesn't get driven much...I plan on keeping mine for awhile.

You are showing yourself unworthy of owning a LightningLegend. Only a wimpy Chevy owner would ask questions such as those.
Quick, ask where to buy a chip, filter and gearbox-valvebody-upgrade, and we will let you back in...

Had mines since the 99L's came out....Driven everyday literally.
Just a hair over 68K miles. Im planning on keeping mines forever. Gas can be okay as long as you have some control of flooring it at every light.
** No rubbing of the paint or nicking on the wheelwells. I live in Maryland where we get salt on the roads too...no rust no nothing yet...

I'm not worried about mileage, I know these things burn some fuel. I've learned from here that F1's probably aren't gonna last 60K miles, hehe, especially the ones in the rear. It's only a 10 mile stretch of fresh new flat interstate pavement from here to work.
The ones I've looked at (new), seem to have molding that is loose behind the front wheels and the spot I mentioned in the original post seems to be a bit loose and against the paint.
blowntruck- Does yours still wind up like it always has, or have you noticed any decreases in performance.
I don't plan on doing any mods, I've learned from the truck I have now, rarely are aftermarket parts as good as ones from the Ford.
I wouldn't own a GM, they all seem to rattle. I'm just glad you didn't say I sounded like a Dodge owner. (don't get me started on Chrysler products) Everything else is too small, good thing I like Fords!!
