Lots of greasy/oil on back right rim.

I clean the inside of the rim each time I wash the truck. For the past few months I've noticed that 3 of the rims only have dust on them with the exception of the right rear rim. This past time there was literally a greasy substance on there that was pretty hard to get off. What could be causing this? Is something leaking?

Axle seal. We have had a bunch of them replaced down here in the past few weeks.

That's covered under warranty, right? SVT's get a free rental, right? Do you have to take it to an SVT dealer or not?

It's covered. Any dealer should be able to do that for you.

They should be able to fix that in about 30 mintues so you shouldn't need a rental car.

The good news is that you get $75 worth of axle lube for free (if you're under warranty). My left rear axle seal went out somewhere around 25K miles.

Had mine replaced about a month ago. They replaced my pads as well because there was so much grease caked on from the leak. If you wanna make sure it's the axle seal, crawl underneath and take a look at your wheel assembly. You'll most likely see fluid running down to the bottom.

No biggie. Just bring it in.

Soap dont scare the guy

"rear main seal" that would be alot of oil and a far distance to make it to the rear wheels

but like others said brakeline or axel seal
I think someone said something about the vent being clogged on there rear also check that could cause some pressure when it the rear gets hot coul dmake a seal go bad

slick

This is a long shot

Does anybody have drawings or pictures of how the rear axel looks like (on the inside). Because I have to replace the seals, and I would like to know how it looks like before I get started.

I would go to your Ford Dealer and pick up 2 of the seals.

I bought 1 last year, and now hte other side is leaking.

So buy 2 and get it done right.
