Unhappy Real old people suck!!!

I have to vent !!!
I just got my wife a 2002 Explorer Limited (by the way no need for fog light mod on new explorers switch does what we want)

Well anyway she goes to a party yesterday and while at the place a guy who works there comes in and say's some old guy hit into a nissan sentra.
So my wife was like Chit one of our friends have a sentra, So she goes and gets them and goes out side and wouldn't you believe it she goes by the new truck (only 200 miles not plates still dealer tag) and the whole passenger side door-fender-running board is destroyed. The old piece of crap hit the gas instead of breaks and smashed into 5 yes 5 cars (sentra-explorer-durango-sable-caddy-
and his own altima.
So they call the police mean while my wife is freaking out-a whole lot of bad words I think her cell phone went into shock too. ( I am at work ) So I get there and there just about done with paper work were gong back into the party and the old guy doesn't even say sorry to anyone. OLD PEOPLE TAKE A CAB

Sorry for the Rant but I had to vent
Thank god it wasen't my "L" I would need bail $$
So now I got pleanty of body work to do probably like 4-5K damage

AHHHHHHHH!!!!

Hmmmmmmmm....Ya got any idea just how 'old' this auto-contols challenged man is? I know(and concur) that you and your wife are pissed and I would be too. But how many times have I seen a 'young'(20s?) gal blowin' by in the left lane of I-75 at 80+, steering with her knees while she applys mascara, lipstick, rouge, and/or underarm deodorant.............???

Stupid people should be culled as they are stupid when young and they don't improve with age(as my Cuban cigarsdo ).

Was the old gal ticketed by the police?????? If not, you and the rest of the owners should get together and demand that she be issued a ticket. That would be the most likely way to get her off the streets and get her license jerked.

It was the old guy who was driving
Don't get me wrong I know we all will get old some day or atleast hope too. I do think if it was a younger driver they would not have hit the wrong pedal , I know they would have been more sympathetic , Hey like I said I was venting truck is brand new. My poor wife is mortified and embarassed to drive it now.
I am sure you would all feel the same if it was you old or young.
Luckely no one was inbetween the cars or in the lot walking everyone was ok.

I've heard many old people horror stories from techs @ dealerships. Being from Jersey I believe we have one of the highest amount of old people per state, so I have seen some horrorid things on the road. Let me say, I'm doing everything in my power to remove my grandfather from the road.

Some people should just loose there license, period. (old and young included).

SLICK0478 - sorry to hear that bad news.

Thumbs down

DAMN! Sorry about what happened Slick! I know you were pretty damn happy about that truck when we were talking just the other day... The sad part is now owning that brand new truck and knowing it was damaged before... that really sux!

Didn't the old guy realize he hit the wrong pedal by the time he bounced off the first car? Or did he step on it harder after that happened and knocked into four more?

Old geezers suck but I remember a year ago or two there was a similar story one town over in Fair Lawn... some chick stepped on the wrong pedal in her daddy's new Black Camaro and went thru the wall of a store on a main strip.

My biggest problem with teenage drivers is as mentioned before, driving on the highway without paying any attention to the road! I once was going to school and started passing a weaving Jeep... once I got closer to see what was going on, the Chick driving it was reading a book and apparently had hard time consentrating because she had to turn the wheel and didn't want to turn the book which was resting on it. It was crazy, especially on the zig zags on route 21!

Good Luck Slick with getting the repairs done!

I'm sure it's only the girls trying to apply makeup who are posing a threat when it isn't old people. Couldn't possibly be GUYS like the A$$hole I saw yesterday in my rearview mirror in a brand new Camaro skip the front of his bumper off the median wall and spin out across 3 other lanes of traffic on I17 because he was ****in' with the radio...or something like that...

No they wouldn't. Young people don't care AND can easily get more flustered in a panic situation. It's not about young or old, it's about how people react when they PANIC
My poor wife is mortified and embarassed to drive it now.
everyone was ok.

mortified and embarassed to drive it?????GET OVER IT, it is only a vehicle. They make a new one every day!
The only thing that made sense was "everyone was ok"

whoa....

Redneck I agree. The young drivers don't have the experience under their belts that older drivers may have. But on the other hand I live 10 minutes from Sun City West...golf carts are legal on any street there where the speed limit does not exceed 40 mph. When was the last time you saw a golf cart cruisin at 40 MPH? Sometimes I think that these elders around here feel that given their age they are entitled to creep along as slow as they please because they have earned that, be damned the bus behind them doin 45. If it's true that the guy who wiped out Slicks wifes truck hit the accelerator instead of the brake, well, maybe it's time for a golf cart. Slick...honestly, if you are going to open a "rant" on the board, expect that people are going to respond to it and you aren't always going to like it. Get with the guys insurance company, get it fixed and move on. It's not like he crashed into a Lightning or something hehe

I wouldn't say all old people in general but for the most part the elderly are hazardous to the roads. My grandfather can still drive like a 25 year old race car driver, but he grew up racing cars and selling autoparts so its kinda in the blood to drive.
