Superchips Micro Tuner

I was surfing over on the Superchips website and noticed that they now offer this Micro Tuner for Ford 5.4L gas trucks.

See: http://www.superchips.com/news.html

Will this thing work on a Lightning and what does it do? I have done some research and it looks like you can load one of two programs that are stored in the Micro Tuner. I have a couple of questions:

Can you make adjustments to these programs before loading them into the computer?

If so what changes are you allowed to make?

Can it store more than 2 programs?

What is to stop someone from getting one of these and putting programs on all of their buddies trucks?

It looks like the diesel guys have been using this product for quite some time. Any information is greatly appreciated!

I dont have any answers for you but check out what it says at the bottom of that page:

"Ford Gas News

2002 Ford Lightning and Harley Edition with a Supercharger Available Now!

Put the famous Superchips R9 program that everyone on F150Online is raving about. What other modification can you make that will drop a 1/2 second off your 1/4 mile times with only a $265.00 investment and an hour of your time for installation?

Mhetman: "Went to the track on Wednesday and clocked a best ever 13.04 at 104.25MPH! And I don't have my pulley on yet! Thanks for the great programming, the proof is in the time slip! Great work!""

Hello Everyone,

First, thanks very much to Doug for letting me know of this thread...........

The new Superchips F-150 Micro Tuner is designed to be used on 1997 thru 2002 F-150's including the Lightnings and supercharged Harleys.

However, and this is very important to remember, in the case of these supercharged 5.4's in the Lightnings and the '02 Harleys, the programming inside the Micro Tuner is not for custom situations like high-boost modified trucks. It is for trucks with stock boost levels or very close to it (8-9 PSI for Lightning, 6-7 PSI in the Harleys), so it can be used on a stock to lightly modified Lightning-motor only. You can use an intake kit, a cat-back exhaust, electric fans, a different throttle body, but you cannot use increased boost pulleys, breather caps, etc.

Any custom engine tuning, as is required with pulleys, breather caps, etc., in the supercharged engines will still need to be handled via the traditional Superchip module, ether single program or dual program.

This new Micro Tuner will automatically read the exact software revision in your individual vehicle's PCM and then upload the coresponding code-matched Superchips performance program, without ever having to know the computer code, etc., and this will work in all of the 1997 thru 2002 F-150's, Expeditions, etc.

This unit will allow you to correct the speedometer & odometer for gear ratio changes and/or for tire size changes.

This unit allows to you select the WOT upshift point and shift firmness.

Also, this unit is an OBD-II code scanner as well! Yes, that's right, you can use this unit to not only tune the F-150, but also use it anytime you want to scan for DTC's (drivetrain trouble codes, or error codes as they're generically called) if you get a check engine light, so no more worrying about why the light came on, connect the Micro Tuner and find out immediately!

Anyone who has any questions about this please just give us a quick call at our nubmer listed below & we'll be happy to go over all the details.
