The best way to break in your L is to go directly from the dealership to your local 1/4 mile track!!!

Like anything these days, you need minimum miles to seat the rings, first few miles they always say up and down the RPM range and "never the same consistant RPM". Another words drive it like you will drive it, but don't stay WOT too long. Don't worry about doing something wrong, you can't hurt it, you can't over rev it, it has built in Rev and Fuel Shut off points. (YOU'LL MOVE THEM LATER) Good Luck, but I wouldn't expect to see it til after the new year, if it's anything like waiting for the 02's like I did.

Vary the RPM a lot during the first few hundred miles. Then break it in like you are going to drive it.

Or use the Johnny Lightning method, 6 miles from the dealer to the track, them run it!

Be nice for 200 miles. Pull out into your street, grab the brake and gas pedal and proceed to burn some of that stock F1 rubber off. Your now ready to trot and tear up the streets looking for that first kill!

Allow me to be the voice of sanity.
I've rebuilt many a V8 and would never beat a new motor to death.

I took it easy for the first 1,000 miles. My truck seems to be doing just fine. Daily driven for 2,000 miles with 6#, and no problems at all.
