OK 1st of all thanx to everyone for your support! I wish i could be telling everyone how we hit the 10's today but it didn't happen. The weather was just flat out tooooo HOT! Well it was me my wife and my good friend charlie and his wife together today trying to put this all together and lay down that 10! but in 100* air its very hard to do. We had a great day for sure. charlie laid down a 11.9 in 100* heat with the *stock* blower! and cut a perfect .500 light! (way to go charlie!)..My 1st pass it was 99* the track was greasy i just couldn't launch it hard at all! i did manage a 1.56 60 ft. and went 11.03 @ 122. the next pass it was 101* i went 11.08 @ 121with a 1.59 60 ft. the next pass was a blistering 105* i stepped up the tune abit to try and do it. and went 11.08 @ 121 with a 1.58 60 ft. well instead of stepping up on the tune and risk hurting the engine i said this is insane to try to accomplish this in this heat! so we called it a day. I was very impressed with the results and how well the truck performed. we will be changing tire size this week and hope this alone will put us in the 10's. we were going thru the traps just under 6,000 rpm's! a bit to high... Maybe this week if we get time we'll give it another try.we'll keep ya posted!...thanx again! JL

Damn JL, it's like when you were trying to hit 11s in your 99 all over again! Just missing it each time. I know you'll do it, no sense chancing hurting the truck in less than optimum conditions. Once August is over, I'm sure lots of people will be running new best times all over the place.

DAYUM!!! At least you still ran your best time by .03 hundredths! You are sooooooooooo close!

This reminds me of when I was running 13.02's @108 all day long in my '96 Mystic Cobra. I was normally aspirated, stock 3.27s, stock MAF, stock TB, and street tires. All I had was BBK Long Tubes, Off-roads, 2 Flowmasters (uhhhg), and Nitto DR's. I was soooooo pissed!

Johnny, you are so close. A cooler track or cooler air, and you will make it. In that heat, the tracks are so slippery. Those runs were very consistant considering the conditions.

I ran at Bakersfield one evening last summer. 113 degree day. My truck with limited mods would spin for about 15 feet on the 1-2 shift. I won't even do that on the street!

I believe "HOT" is being considered as a cool compared to the daily infernos we have been having around here.

According to the weather forcast this area is supposed to get some rain on tuesday, hopefully that will break the heat wave long enough to get some good passes.
