Need Info on JLP Air Intake Kit

I ordered (and received) an Air Induction Kit. Unforunately, the box arrived a bit worse for wear, and one end was ripped open. Having never actually seen one of the kits installed, and before I begin removing the factory airbox, I was just curious as to just how many pieces make up the "accesories" portion of the kit. I have the airbox and the filter, the clamp for the filter and a small package with 4 bolts/nuts. Am I missing any pieces, and were there install directions in the box? If anyone here can help me, please feel free to jump in. I'd like to complete the install tomorrow, so any help would be appreciated. By the way, the kit was purchased for a 2002 model, and is the basic kit/airbox, not the "cold air induction" model. Thanks.

I planned on calling him this morning, just didn't know if I'd find anyone around on a Saturday. I was hoping to install today.

Lightbulb okey dokey

You're not missing anything. Here's the skinny on the install.

Simply remove the factory four screws holding the MAF to the factory air box.

Remove the Ait Temp Sensor from the top of the stock box.

Remove the top of the stock air box and filter. Save for de-mod

Lift up on the bottom of the air box near the MAF.

Remove the rubber tube from the bottom of the box to the fender.

Drop in the JLP box and slide it toward the fender.

Reattach the MAF to the box with the provided nust and bolts.

place filter clamp over the end of the MAF end of the filter.

Drop the filter into the box and slide it back onto the attachment ring.

Reattach the Air Temp Sensor. Keep it vertical.

Test drive and enjoy the whine.

Bob

Thanks Bob. I finally finished all my other chores this morning and completed the install. Pretty straight forward once you begin, although I'm not so sure about re-using the stock MAF to airbox gasket. It's not "captured" in any way, and I could see it working loose and being sucked in the intake. At any rate, it fits okay, the finish is good and I would recommend it to anyone.

I have it and it rocks! I bought the lid for an extra 10 bucks. The lids are not ready yet but will be ship shortly. The airbox is huge. Plenty of room on the sides of the filter. It has a 12" powerstack filter with a 3" stub that goes into the hole in the fender. This is at the end of the box. This stub is 3" diameter. The bottom of the airbox is fed by a 3" hose that goes down to a scoop inlet pickup. You do not have to hack the wheel well liner and there is no rubbing from the front tire. There is a black metal 90 that the hose and scoop attach too. My IAT temps are up about 20 degrees in hot stop and go driving. This is way lower than what I saw with the modded stock airbox. Anything over 25 the IAT is at ambient. I'm waiting for the lid to see how that reduces the stop and go IAT temps...The scoop mounts with an L bracket to the IC cooler bracket and the otherside has a longer bracket that mounts to an existing hole on the inside of the bumper.. No drilling is needed. I give this setup a thumbs up...
