C&D 10,000 HP Shootout
C&D 10,000 HP Shootout
While traveling over the weekend, I flipped through a copy of C&D and something caught my attention:
Lingenfelter 427 TT AWD Sonoma $137,027 10.6/135mph
Apex Lethal 750 Dodge Viper $146,804 11.8/124mph
AutoThority Stage V 996 TT $211,556 11.8/129mph
Beck Lister $45,500 11.6/134mph
Mosier MT900S Photon $214,070 11.9/127mph
Olthoff Superformance Sport $69,050 11.9/120mph
Hennessey Venon 800 TT $173,396 12.4/134mph
Lingenfelter TT Corvette Stage II $113,460 12.3/132mph
Mallett 435 Corvette $139,232 12.8/121mph
RENNtech SL55K $144,325 12.6/119mph
TNT Serpent 555 $117,318 12.6/124mph
RENNtech SLK38K $111,937 13.5/110mph
Specter GTR $112,824 13.2/115mph
Peter Farrell Supercars IS300 Turbo $62,850 13.5/112mph
Comptech NSX-T $155,556 13.0/115mph
It's ironic that a stock Lightning running chip and filter ($32,000+$500) could beats/match 4 of these *super cars*, while a full-house Lightning from any one of the tuners could take on the rest of the cars in the list above. If I'm spending $100K+ on a tuner car, I would damn well expects it to run low 11/high 10's. From the list above, only 6 of the 15 manages 11's or better. To make it even worse, 2 of the 6 cars are feather-weight kit cars.
I know these cars are not measured by 1/4 miles time alone. But it would be interesting to see a full-house Lightning going up against these exotics. Then again, I doubt C&D will include a Lightning because it would be embarrassing for the field to be dusted by a $60,000, 5000lb pick'em up truck.
