Insurance Claim question... please help

I had a... an unfortunate parking misshap... and ended up putting a big dent in someone's car. It was totally my fault... there was no one in the other car. heh.
The L is fine, surprisingly...
Anyway, I was wondering how this work with insurance.
If she reports this to her insurance company, and gives them my insurance company's info... do I get charged the deductable? Or does she?
I'm trying to figure out if this would be better to resolve "under the table" where I just write her a check for the repairs, or is it better to go through the insurance co.
Thanks for your help.

you only pay a deductible when u have repairs done to
your car,so no u dont have to pay anything, but your ins might
go up because of an incident that will go on ur record.if the
price of the repair isnt to bad and you have a clean record
id pay for it and forget about it.just get something signed
that the car was fixed by u and all is done,so they dont try
nothin later on.

So... if she reports this to her insurance, she'll have to pay a deductable for me running into her car? That's odd...

WRONG. If she reports it, you WILL have to pay your deductible. If the total of the damages are below or just above the deductible, it would be in your best interest to resolve it without insurance.

Uh, dosn't work like that in NJ. You don't pay for the other person car, your insurance company does.

Of course, your rate goes up though.

Boys Boys..you are making this too hard..ITs simple

You have

Comprehensive-Damage other than collision..IE DEER, HAIL

Collision----Damage when you run into stuff..

NOW!! Comp/Coll only apply to your car!!!! So whatever deductible you set you only pay this on damage to your car!!

Liability has no deductible..It is only for damage to other peoples cars..

SO in answer to your question..If she reports it NO you dont pay any deductible..She doesnt pay any deductible..Your ins co pays for it all..NO deductible..

They are more than likely gonna raise your rate up to 15%

BOTTOM LINE..neither you nor her are out any money..

You didn't say how serious damage

was to other vehicle? If it's just a dent, even a large one, but paint isn't broken, take it to one of those dent removal places and pay for it yourself. Just depends on $ amount of damage to other car. Have to consider if you have spotless records, no tickets or accidents. Insurance rates stay up for 3-4 years then drop if no further accidents or tickets. just get out the calculator and decide what's best. Good Luck!

Never heard of it tha way before... I've only ever paid deductables on MY cars if/when needed and *NEVER* for someone else.
