What year?

We've got an '01 Saleen S281 SC (Supercharged) and it made 315hp 385tq at the wheels.

A lightly modded Lightning should walk the thing EASY.

It (The Saleen) runs about even with a stock LS1 on street tires...

Who cares if you get your **** handed to you......at least you'll give him a run for his $$$$$. Even a stock L is respectable on the street. Hell I'd race a Viper GTS on the street (most of those dudes couldn't drive it out of the hole anywho )

Just hope its not a supercharged S-351. 495 hp. Stock.
That car would mean trouble but they are rare , so you should be able to take him.

Was it a Saleen???

My experience in the SE US has been this: for every true Saleen there are 3 or 4 clones. They've got the decals, the "Double Decker" wing etc, but stock performance. One guy I see often has the full Saleen body/decal/wing kit on a V-6 auto Mustang. Another one around appears stock but has a 351 S/C in it & is FAST. You never know...

No beating them in your truck against their $40,000 + sports car pisses them off hehe. Run him no big deal always remeber one thing you have a truck. We are always the under dog, we are heavier, and less aerodynamic then any car. So race them and you lose you say big deal you beat my truck against your car. But the best part about the Lightning is 9 times out of 10 you will beat most sports cars. Then seeing th elook on the sport car owners face is priceless

I went to a 1/4 mile track last friday with my stock 02 L. Everybody was going slow (heat, and slippery track), up comes this sweet brand new charcoal gray saleen. I thought that he would just eat the track up and spit it out. After I saw his run times I could have taken him towing a trailer. LOL

You can take him. Of course you always have that 90% thing going for you anyways. And if you have a quick reaction time that is also worth an extra .3-.5 seconds. Just watch out for the SC version, it's probably best to leave those alone.

I own both an 01 L and a 00 SCS281 Saleen. From 0-100 it would be a close race. My L is stock, my Saleen has a 2# pulley, tb, Xpipe, and cold air kit. After 100, it would be bye-bye L, due to the aerodynamics.
FWIW, I beat a 99 L (about 385 to the wheels)at the strip in my Saleen by a car length or so. My car is the heavier vert.

Ive never seen one manage to put 330 down without a re-tuning. Those cars left the factory un-tuned with gobs of problems. Infact, Danny Swanson had to re-tune the damn thing just to make it repectable. Respectable meaning about 380 to the rear wheels. $90K for a 351-S Speedster and only 330 hp to the wheels? Who is the crook in this deal?

Saleens are all show and no go. Always have, always will be.

Their roots blower setup is a complete joke. They would have been better off using Vortech's or Paxtons.

The Saleens out here know their limit. One of which, isnt messing around with L's and Cobras.
