Unhappy Flex A Lite Fan

Had the flex a lite fan #270 professionaly installed about three weeks ago. About a week later I noticed with the AC on that both fans were shutting off for about 3-5 seconds and then coming back on. Fans would run full out for 3 minutes and then shut off and come back on.

This past Friday while sitting in rush hour traffic the fans shut off and my air conditioning became very warm. Pulled over and looked at the variable speed control and the ignition siganal l.e.d, ac operation l.e.d, and fan signal l.e.d were showing off.

Later on that day the fans came back on and then had cold ac.

Wanted to know a few things:

1) By placing the variable speed control on the fan shroud, could it be getting too hot and causing it to malfunction. Has anyone else had a problem with the VSC.

2) If the fans are off would that mean I will not have cold ac. Are the fans and ac both directly related.

Thanks

Howard

i think i saw a thread a couple of weeks

ago where the guy was having trouble with the relay overheating and shuting down the system....he moved them to the framing in front and to the side of the radiator where it would inconter cooler air and it seemed to eliminate his problem

Hello Howard,

Texford is correct about the placement of controller. Follow my link in my sig and you can see where I mounted mine.

As for the A/C, yes, if the fans go off...no A/C. The fan moves air across the condensor coil, which is located in front of your radiator. No air across condensor means no heat transfer.

I got alittle leary about the heat after mounting the controller on the shroud. Mine got hot as h*ll. I later moved it and now stays cool.

Going to replace the VSC to be on the safe side. Seems like the right side quarter panel behind the headlight is the best place...

Thanks

I had problems...

It was my JDM fan and the circuit breakers were overheating (that's the theory at least).

Of coures I still have some electrical problems, so maybe that wasn't actually it.

Thanks for your notes about placement of the VSC, in testing we didn't have a problem with overheating the boards. We will continue to monitor, and may make changes to our recomendations.
