Unhappy Not a great day at Monster Box install

Well it took about 4 hours to get the stock out. The top bolts was hell with the wiring harness in my way. With 3ft of extentions it came out. Get the other box up there , after fighting it, and I think I'm going to need to pull it back out to see if the converter is in right. I have about a quarter of an inch of it being flush. So close yet so far away! Now my help left so I'm on my own tommorrow. Whats the word for it "I NEED BEER!!!!" I will get that bad boy in there and then it will be worth all the trouble.Thats what I keep telling myself anyway. I really don't see how yall change that converter so often to stalls, its a pain! Well lets see what tommorrow brings.

Run a straight edge over the mounting flange of the bellhousing. If the converter isnt touching the straight edge, its in all the way. When you put the converter on the shaft, it will index in toward the belhousing 3 times. Meaning you put the converter on the shaft, keep turning it back and forth until it slides foward a total of three times....THEN you check to see if its flush(or further inward) with a straight edge.

Hope this helps,
Jason

Thanks for the info. I will check that out in the morning. I only like about a 1/4 of an inch before its touching the block. I have 3 bolts in it but I don't want to apply to much pressure on them , being scared of breaking the housing. I have pushed and pulled every direction I could. I was told it needed to go flush before the bolts could have pressure. I turned the flywheel trying to see if the converter is in right , but its too late and I'm tired, so I could not tell. Thanks man.

Hope your "Monster Box" isn't DOA like my first one was. Doing the R & R really sucks.

I need to elaborate. The CENTER of the converter will not touch the straight edge if the converter is in all the way. Keep rocking/twisting the covnerter back and forth....it'll go in all the way. When you put the converter nuts on, you should draw the converter to the flywheel about an 1/8 to 1/4 inch. Then you know for sure it was seated all the way on the input shaft.
