I d/k the hole size but several guys have done this....... The s/c whine/noise will increase not decrease as you are allowing more air in.

I prefer the PSP Fast Air kit.

Most guys are cutting 4, 2" holes in the bottom of the airbox. shouldn't void your warranty.

I removed as much as I could from the box without losing stability, The hole is probably half the width of the bottom of the box, and the whine is much louder.

Cold air, hot air, it's all hot air after the supercharger compresses it. This is why you have an intercooler. I have a cut airbox and Magnaflow; it's a total beast now. And, I've gained 1 mpg at the pump!

Is it that people don't want to spend the money for a well designed cold air kit? I mean if your broke, I can understand, but if your broke what the f*#% are you doing driving a 30K truck

All I can say is that after I installed my MagnaFlow, I noticed a slight decrease in low-end torque and also the exhaust almost drowned out the sound of the SC. After cutting a 4" diameter hole in my airbox, my torque was back with a vengance and so was the whine of my SC. I don't know how much of a gain, but dammit if you can feel the difference it must be worth something. And it is FREE! I am sure the intake kits that are available from various tuners are nice and also functional, but if you can get a gain simply by cutting a hole, why not? Besides, you really don't need an air kit unless you are running a pulley.

And by the way Fast Gator, I am not broke. And why the hell do people like you criticise those of us that had rather spend our money on things other than a $300 air kit???
Maybe some of us would like to keep our engine bays looking as stock as possible.

Find something else to whine about.

Johnny, is this it?

It now looks as if you use 1 tube from the "ram air" duct under the bumper, and the factory fender opening for cool air instead of using 2 tubes.

am I correct in my statement? If so I'm going this route! No more hacking the fenderwell.

Here's your old kit:

Plus not to mention less weight now!
