Talking Garage smells like burnt rubber

Just got back from a test run after installing the new plugs and computerized enhancements(thanks to REM). All I can say is DAAMMNN!! This truck really has the gitty up now. SOTP difference is pretty awesome and it really lets you know you hit 2nd gear.WhooooAAAAAAAAA!! I hope to get to the track tomorrow and compare times with just chip and then install the 4# this weekend.

Thumbs up

Excellant thread title--clever thoughts!

Good luck at the track--take 'em down.

You gotta love that first impression of driving a chipped Lightning. Sad as it seems after a while you just expect every Lightning to preform this way.

Took it to the track tonight with just the chip. Best time was a 8.57 with a 2.026 60'. Worst time was a 8.68 with a 2.094 60'(pulled right off of street and onto track). Also ran two 8.63 runs and a 8.60 run as well. Wish we had been bracket racing! Overall a fun night. Best run before chip was a 8.75. Does that sound like a expected improvement?? Should it have been more?

I will install a pulley this weekend(4#), what difference should that make?? What kind of times should I expect. The chip is tuned for the pulley BTW. I want better 60' times, but I tried idle launch and tach to approx. 1000-1200 tonight and all times were 2.0... on the 60'. Reaction times were good though (.045,.095, .064 and a -.182(oops)) Fun night in New Bern. Two other L's at the track, did not meet them though

Whats up mark. Last year when i had my 01, it was exactly this time of year when i was running mine stock, and with just a chip and trans shift kit. Although i had to run in 90deg. weather every time. Lets see, I ran a 8.71 bone stock, with 400 miles on the truck. I went a 8.48 with the shift kit and JDM chip, then i got some ET streets and went a 8.19. My 60 ft. were in the 1.95 - 2.05 range on street tires and 1.80 -1.90 on the ET streets. This is all from memory, i can't find my time slips.

Jeff, It looks as if my truck is within approx. .1 of where yours was with similar mods. That could be a difference between New Bern and Kinston also. I want to get to Kinston soon. I will wait for a little cooler weather and I'll get the pulley on also Thanks for the input though. And also the advice on plug change.
