Can anyone point me to a comprehensive Ring and Pinion install advise? I plan on putting mine in tomorrow morning. I need to know:

Slap?

Pinion depth?

torque settings?

Any help is appreciated. This will be my first time with a seasoned mechanic standing behind me.

This will be on a 99 L putting in 373's

For the pinion depth you really ought to use the depth guage setup, as for as backlash, i think the spec is 7-15 thousandths, personally i like to set mine up tight, can't remember the turning torque off hand, i've done enough that i set that by feel. If you have access to the ford special tools it ought to be pretty straightforward.

 

I don't know what "depth guage setup" is?

Do you mean whatever stock shims set the pinion at?
