It's worth selling the L to me but I have a job crisis at the moment so not an option.

YES!!! A little point of confirmation:

"You can expect next generations of all these vehicles," says chief engineer John Coletti. The only details we know now are that the new Lightning will appear six to 12 months after the next-generation F-150 pickup launches in the summer of 2003. That would make the next Lightning an '05 model. A successor to the SVT Mustang Cobra should arrive about the same time.
Beyond that, we don't know which Ford will next receive SVT treatment.

Beyond that, we don't know which Ford will next receive SVT treatment.
When asked when the SVT will soup up a Lincoln or Mercury, Coletti says, "I think there's one more (Ford) car line we can add" before proceeding beyond the blue oval.
Tom Scarpello, SVT marketing and sales manager, says that "it would make a lot of sense" for the team to do a Lincoln or Mercury -- maybe an LS?
One thing seems certain: don't expect an SVT sport-ute, despite the fact that the team has built hot-rod prototypes of both Expedition and Explorer.
"Performance and SUVs don't mix," says Coletti. "The expectations are simply too far apart."
Hmmm that doesn't leave to much, no SUV's (thank God). The Taurus? Maybe bring back the ZX2 as one? Or I do remember reading about the Ford Rage, kind of like a cross between the Taurus and contour over in Europe. Turn the Ranger into a mini Lightning?

IMO SVT is making a little to much, what happen to limited numbers? Take a break for a view years on some of the vehicles.

I was thinking the Crown Vic. But that would be the same market as the Maruader. I think the Taurus would be another Contour let down.

I hear it is supposed to share drivetrain and other components with the GT40 and next gen. Cobra

"The leather wrapping extends to the steering wheel and shifter, and the Cobra, like the Mercury Marauder, now tantalizes drivers with a new instrument: a standard boost gauge. "

Uhhh...no. The marauder doesn't have a boost guage...prolly cause its got no boost...homey G. That puppy is naturally aspirated.

Down in da D. Detroit News auto section sux a big one...like they always do. However, it is rather rare for them to compliment an american car.

Cool

You know Ford just does'nt make "the" vehicle I want. I really like the new Cobra, my Lightning, and my modden CrownVic. But I'd love to have a modern car very, very similar to the 71 chevy chevelle 454.

It could seat 5 comfortably, run 12s in the quarter (w/small mods), 2 dr bodystyle, large trunk for family stuff, could tow a boat, get 25mpg+ on the hwy, & cruise around town showing off the badges. but yet have modern interior ergonomics,.. and for heavens sake stop with the "turd" shaped body styles. Give me something square and that has a nice shape to the hood when seen from the drivers seat and a big honkin motor!

WOT
