you can't

...always judge a book by it's cover...

I was getting off an exit on to I 95 South, and was followed by a lime green Neon. He was pretty determined to get in front of me, but based on my observations of his driving on Rt 1 before the exit, I figured he would park in front of me, so I decided he wasn't a good blocker & thus, wouldn't just let him pass. Must've had Nitrous, because he put up a DAMN good fight.

Oh yeah, I *love* doing that! I've only done it a few times, when I knew for sure that I was faster than the other car. It's also nice because you can take off at a somewhat normal pace, scan for cops and traffic, then floor it when appropriate.

I would love to see what it looks like from the other side - cruisin next to this big truck, then alla the sudden it shoots off like the driver hit a 150 shot of NOS. Must be awe-inspiring.

On a small side-note, don't you just love the auto-trans downshift? I drove an 03 Cobra and it really made me realize that the downshift was most of the fun for me.

Maybe people don't expect to win. They just think it's fun to run something fast....

But, that's just what I think....
You never know the "money bags" driving may not know how to shift and you could get them off the light with a hole shot.

I used to get that alot when I was on my bike also. You would need some serious mods to keep up with a bike. One time I had a Boxter trying to race me on the bike no chance.

Now that I have the L I get that also. One night I was cruising about 80 and suddenly this Neon comes next to me with 4 passangers and starts to rev , I just gave it gas half way and he was done.
I even get people trying to race while I'm towing, WTF is that about.

Yep, I ride a sportbike and get that as well. Some <expletive> in a Dinan-tuned M5 tried to get me off the line. He didn't, needless to say. Guy was a real jerk.

No flames intended, but how the heck did you spank two zo6's, if on stock trim and rubber they run between 12.4 - 12.7 in the 1/4 mile, while you stated that you run 13.6's in the 1/4. There is only a hand full of people in this board that can spank a zo6, and they are running a lot of boost (16 -18 pounds) and most likely have all the performance mods available for our trucks. Again, no flames intended, but that is impossible to believe.

I agree Brasil, the guys in the Z06's obviously didn't know how to drive.

You ought to see all the disappointed looks I get.

I simply say "I'll be at Milan next sat. Wanna run them then?" They just get this sad look of either disappointment or "oh crap" he's serious! Then they just buzzzzz away.

I agree. The Z is a more difficult vehicle to drive WELL than an L, but with a good driver, they are a low 12-sec car stock, and that's just straight-line performance

I was at a light the other day and this car pulls up with this really scruffy guy inside, but with a real hottie wife. The car looked real retro, with woody side and built like a brick *****house, or at least stone. I took him off the line easy but the dude circled around, picked up a few more of his friends, and man, he spanked me off the line and just kept pulling. As he drove off, I think I heard, "Yaba daba dooo!"

More to the topic, maybe there's an official ricer handicap book. You know, a car length per each cylindar, 3 car lengths if n/a, etc. So if a Civic races you and lose by 6 car lengths, then in his book, he won by 1!

I find that most people don't even know what a Lightning is, who makes them, or what they are capable of.
When I take friends for a demostration ride, they can't believe a truck can actually fly like an L does.
I love it, cause a Lightning is still an undeniable sleeper due to most peoples ignorance.

I agree. I have a lot of people ask me who makes the truck.
