Will I Regret?

I have come very close to buying a L after a very generous test drive. I think if it were extended cab or a manual tranny it would be a done deal, I really "need" the extended cab, and a manual tranny would be very nice, but since it has neither, I feel I would be compromising. I know the F-150 HD also has the same blower, so i assume with the proper chip and pulley, you could make the same power, But the HD is heavier, and more expensive. Does it handle as well with the longer wheelbase? I really don't like the other trim that makes it the HD, the wheels, striping, instruments , etc. Maybe L wheels, and ground effects, remove the striping, settle for the dash, and have the ultimate?

My last truck was a king cab. After 30000 miles in an L...I love the chassis, brakes and motor far more than I ever miss the back seat. I seldom need to need more than 3 seats.

Hope this helps

HD vs. L

If you decide to go with the HD, I am sure you can find someone to trade L rims and tires for the HD rims and tires...myself included.

I am fairly familiar with the lightning, and just began interest in the HD, but isn't the suspension the same? I would imagine the Lightning handles better due to the shorter wheelbase, but I thought the shocks, spring rates, dampning, etc, were still SVT tuned on the HD. The engine is the same too, or could easily be with a new pulley. Is the HD that much different than a "crew cab" lightning? (other than looks ) What about interior, (other than trim) is there more equipment avail in the HD? I thought I read about automatic climate control somewhere. Would I get totally different reponses if I posted this in the HD forum? I figured the HD and L crowds would be similar , but maybe they are totally different groups of people.

The hd is a great truck .. "executive" L .. but the intercooler is different (10 hp) And it will never handle like an L. However I have been tempted to trade on a hd 2002 with sunroof. It was SWEET!!!!! I drove an ext cab before the L. I miss all the extra room + noise from lots of friends riding but i love the Et's!!

Well, most of those HD guys are uncouth, monster-smashing,
beer-drinking, woman-chasing, ugly ***** ... So HELL YES !!!

Most FORD peeps are die hard folks ...
