Not more than 3 minutes into the drive a real foul smell was lurking...and now my battery light won't go off. Any suggestions on what this could be?

 

Foul is hard to read but the battery will make a Nasty stink if it is leaking or worse has exploded. Also would explain the battery light. I think the Lightning has fusible links in some places as inline fuses they burn when they are triggered. You might have smelled that

Might be a 'bad' alternator??? Haven't heard of any going bad..............

Did you by any chance, stop at White Castle first. All it takes is 3 minutes for me to start percolating

 

ok....I should have explained it better...I called the dealer and they told me to bring it in...they said without looking at it yet that its probably the alternator, even the fusible links was thrown around.
