Question on hooking up Autometer Trans temp guage...

I've hooked up the autometer lunar boost and a/f guages, and have run the trans temp sender wire to the trans, but wanted to check and see if I really need to drop the pan (I have the deep pan) and install the sender in the pan. Is there another way to do the sender? Thanks for the help!! Paul

I ordered my gauges and have done a pretty exclusive search about the trans sender.

Apparently, on the drivers side of the Trans, just up top above the pan is a plug. Removing that plug is where you install the sender unit. A few drops of fluid may come out when removing the plug. I hope that helps.

That's right, there is a test port on the tranny that is already threaded for the sending unit, 1/4 NPT. Just remove the plug and screw it in, use some teflon tape or thread sealer.

These above two posts are correct, assuming you have purchased the electronic guage. If you bought electronic, get under your truck and find it (pass side).

If you bought the manual guage, you might want to reconsider returning it and buying the electric. The sending unit that you would be needing to screw in for the manual is a pain... I got the electric. So I can't help more than that.
