exhaust problems/need expert advice

Ok here is the story. I had flowmasters (stage two) installed on my 02 lightning. The truck ran fine but it was a little too loud for my taste so i took it back in and the guy put two "conventional" mufflers on it, you know, the quiet , regular kind. Now you can hardly hear it running. So heres the problem: When i drove the truck home last night from the muffler shop, I really got on it to see if i noticed any difference in power etc. IT SEEMS (and i stress) that the boost guage is "sticking" at 6lbs and not generating more boost under wot. However i was able to get it into the 8-9 lb range when it downshifted into second and rpms were up around 4000. I dont remember the truck acting like this before, it seems like it would jump up to 8 lbs in a hurry before. Also it seems like i have lost some power(which may be a no brainer) I am more concerned about overheating the blower?? (I dont know) i am just concerned about doing damage , or having done damage, can anyone help ?? Truck has Diablo chip.I am supposed to go on a long road trip soon so time is of the essence in getting reply. Thanks

do you still have the stock muffler?

sounds like too much backpressure in the 'regular' mufflers.

Check out Magnaflow mufflers when you return.

be safe.

I would have had it reinstalled but they cut it up (when they reused the hangers) Yeah it is probably too much backpressure but why does that effect my boost ??

I recommend buying a cat-back system and getting it over with. There is a new mak system that costs around $300.00 and JDM's silver bullitt thats around $500.00. It will cost you more money but these are good kits and you'll never have to worry about it.

Put the flows back on it with an x pipe. That should take care of it until you can get a catback.

Ive got it up in the air right now and i have broken out the welder, maybye i should just leave it to midas because im sure i will spend all weekend making this x-pipe. I guess i will just call in the morning for a price. This will make $305 invested so far and still isnt right. Trying to get someone to do mods on friday/saturday is nearly impossible so i have no other option but midas or the old a/c buzz box and a few skint knuckles. The truck has to be in Tennesee on Sunday and I cant afford to burn a piston. Hindsight is 20/20, the flows sounded a lot better than this plus it was DONE!!!!!!
