So basically you had the same rate of rpm spin on both comparisons then? Meaning, you tested both w/ 6# lower and both w/ 2# upper?

Also, does the blower's rear hit the firewall at all upon torque load? Could it?

Lookin good Don.

My truck showed similar gains when I installed the Works blower.

Before: 392/471
After: 410/521
(Both tests with 91oct calif. pump gas)

Gained, on average, about 20-25hp throughout the ENTIRE rpm range and about 25-30 ft/lbs of torque throughout the ENTIRE rpm range.

This was with a 4lb lower and the Works upper, LT's, Single Blade TB, Filter & Chip.

-Dale

FYI- The Works upper is 2.80" diameter, which, if my memory serves me correctly, is the same size as the "2lb" uppers?

Works Blower

Question??? Can you change the passenger side plugs without removing the blower?

Nothing personal but that kinda sucks...........I made SAE 409/503 with only a 4# lower on a completely stock motor with just the regular bolt ons. A lot cheaper than $3500 for a new blower pushing 6#'s of boost over stock.

horsepower

Dale's power figures are still good numbers. Remember in California , we only have 91 OCTANE gas. I am sure his numbers would have been higher if he could have put some timing in it, but that would require 100 octane race gas. His truck made that power on 91 octane with a street tune! Not saying that they are the highest numbers, just saying the blower did work! $3500 is a lot of money !! We will have to wait for the Kenne Bell blower and see which is the best way to go. By the way, the Works blower is a really nice piece. Workmanship looked excellent. Just can't figure out how you would change drivers side rear plugs without removing the blower. Skip

Thanks skip

My truck is setup with 14degrees timing (max) and around 11.2-11.4 a/f ratio (on the dyno) At around 5,000 a bunch more fuel was added to keep the thing safe. (Around 10.8-11.0 a/f)

There is a lot more power left to be had, but I want a SAFE tune that I can drive around on the street with the horrible california gas and have no problems.

It should (hopefully) make about 430hp on the race side.

There is more to consider than peak horsepower as well. Area under the curve is whats important. I will post the dyno graph to look at (Left it at the dyno) but the graph is much higher and less "peaky" I guess you could call it. WE compared it to a truck that was making slightly more peak tq (with the stock blower) and, although it had more peak tq, my truck had a much taller graph, overall.

Also- I think I may have an issue with backpressure in my custom exhaust. I think the cats I have aren't "high flow" like they are supposed to be. Since I got the exhaust about 2 weeks ago, I have blown out the collector gaskets twice. I am going to cut the cats out of it and see if it improves any..

Hope that helps,
Dale

BTW- There is no way you will change the passenger side rear-most plug with the blower on there. The second one back *possibly* if you have a lot of patience.

I thought that Calif had not only the worst gas BUT the most strict emission laws. so how can you "gut" the cats and still pass?
No flame, just curious......And you know curiousity killed the cat.Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Dale: Get a hold of Sal and ask about the plug issue. He's had a Works s/c on for a few months now.

Gator-

Im not worried about emissions We do have very strict laws about that, but I intend to just flange both sides of the cats, as well as the new straight pipe replacement so I can just bolt the old cats into place if I need 'em

FYI - I ran a 12.35 @ 110.5 today in horrible air and only the mods listed in my post above, with the addition of a set of 28" slicks & traction bars... I am very pleased with the works blower.

Don have you thought about just putting a KB blower on your truck instead?

Thats what I think I'm going to end up doing on mine.
