Baby got Vandalized
Baby got Vandalized
I work at the mall and some nights I can't leave until 12 or 1 in the morning since I have to refold clothes and make the store look nice. My car is usually the only one left in the parking lot so it can be a little scary. To my surprise my car was messed with. Things like this usually don't happen in Scottsdale-it's la la land. My cover was trashed and the fiberglass is all cracked...and my foglights and side mirrors were cracked and scratched. I'm sure someone messed with it only becuase the license plate says SVT GIRL. I started bawling histerically. I don't know really what to do...any suggestions? Thanks guys.

man that sucks....sorry to hear about it. maybe your insurance covers vandalism to your vehicle?? i'd talk to mall security, maybe they have video survelliance of the area your truck was in? if not, yell at them for not being there when it happened!(wont make things better, but probably make you feel better afterward

Karina,
I am real sorry to hear about you truck getting thrashed! Probably some jealous punk a$$ kids in a Honda or something. I would suggest that you get a couple of estimates to have everything that was damaged repaired or replaced and try and source the parts yourself. You definately want to avoid contacting your insurance company unless the cost to repair is much higher than your deductable. Good Luck!

Alot of this stuff is jealousy and there is no stopping it. Some people see a nice vehicle and since they can't afford it they deface it. It's one of the ways having a vehicle like this is useless. When you go somewhere you should not have to worry that this could happen. You have a problem because you not only have to pay some dough to get it fixed, but you have to drive it daily to work. Hopefully it was just a random act of ignorance and not someone who knows where you work all the time. It's hard cause it's your baby.
Maybe you can carpool with one of your friends from work.
My wife used to work at a department store and in the christmas season she would work real late. I would go walk her to her car when i could. Be cautious.

I would go straight to your ins. company. Acts of vandalism will not up you rate, and will be covered if you have full ins. the cover, both fogs, and both mirrors alone will be more than a 500 dollar deductible. Contact the mall security like the above post said, they all should have cameras, then get a police report and take your own pictures of the damage. Then report it to your ins. co. with the police report # and take it to 3 auto shops you can trust and get estimates for your ins. co. Takes time and it sucks....but you'll be happier with the result. DON'T pay for it yourself if you have insurance...that's what you pay it for. Only pay if there is no chance it is over your deductible. That's very unlikely though once you add parts + labor. Good Luck.

this would be considered a no fault to your insurance company and all you should be responsable for is the detuctible. there shouldnt be any points put on your driving licence.
Sorry to hear about that happening. I did have something similar occur to my L in a mall parking lot. But I am not sure if it was direct vandalism or a really bad accident. The whole passenger bed side had to be replaced along with the rim.
I would highly recommend going through your insurance. It should not effect your insurance rates unless you make a habit of making similar claims often. Also make sure they understand that this was an uninsured motorist accident and then ask about decreasing the deductable for repairs. Some insurances will do this because you had nothing to do with it, but they do not always volunteer this information. Also another reason to go through insurance is that many estimates will be for a F150 even though they know it is a Lightning. But for actual repairs you will hear "it will be a little extra for <fill in>, because it is a SVT." And one last thing, don't try to handle getting the money (which I did and was a BIG mistake). I would make the claim with the insurance. Ignore their recommendations of going to their adjuster. Then go to a trusted place that will handle the insure process (I went to a dealership), and tell them to make it exactly the way it was before the accident. And if you need a little extra work done, ie. remove the license plate bracket, this would be a good time to do that. This would save you a little bit of money.
Sorry for so much writing but something like this can be difficult, so having all the helping info can be a big help.
