Question Fuel Filter Change

I am in the process of changing my filter, murrays here in michigan lets you borrow the tools to take it off but how do you release the fuel pressure in the line before removing filter? I looked in chiltons book and all it says is to release pressure but doesn't say how(good book)

the schrader (sp?) valve on the fuel rail, passenger side...

BE CAREFUL!!!!

(read: engine should be cool, stuff a towel under the fuel rail, slowly press down on the valve with a philips screwdriver wrapped in a clean dry towel)

clonetek - did that on my car, worked great , haven't tried on the truck yet.

has anyone considered an aftermarket fuel filter that you could either change the element or clean it?

example:

Both summit and jegs sells them.

The new Aeromotive Filter was designed to minimize the time and cost associated with protecting today’s high tech fuel injection systems. Designed to support requirements from 200-1000 Horsepower.

The advanced flow-through design provides 10 micron filtering protection and less than .15 PSI pressure drop, at a flow rate of 1200 lbs. per hour. That’s enough fuel to support 2400 Horsepower. 6061-T651 Aircraft-grade aluminum alloy and protective finishes per Military Specification MIL-A-8625 type II Bright Dip Anodize round out this advanced fuel filter. This filter will actually save you money. Low cost replacement elements are available through your local Aeromotive distributor.

Thumbs up

Captain: I keep looking for a proper fuel filter for our Ls as I don't think the OEM one is as 'good' as it could be. I thought I had found my answer when I ordered a Canton filter. It turned out to have theline connecters too close to the filter ends--you couldn't get the tool in that small space.

The one you're showing has AN fittings--we need the Ford-type connecters???

Oh well, maybe we can convert Ford over to the AN fittings. I think one of the tuners should come up with an adaption kit or better fuel filter.

instead of going thru all the trouble of adapting the fittings, why dont you change out the pumps, lines, and fuel rails? the stock lines are tiny!!!
