A "line modulator valve", is one part of a complete shift kit. Our trucks have them stock, you just change it when doing a shift kit. Some people sell the valve by itself, which increases line pressure, but then the accumulator valve springs (that do the actual shifting) are not matched to the increased pressure.

Also, there are different kinds of "line mod valve". The most common have an aluminum outer case with a stainless inner valve. These kinds are cheap, but will also wear quicker too.

For more information on it, read this:

Thanks.....

I know what one is....I rebuild transmissions everyday. I am just trying to get the low down on what brand people are selling at these prices to see the difference in my own cost. Oh well just me being curious. Thanks again. -Mat-

Sal (Lightning Tuner) in good conscience can't say what he wanted to say I think.

Here's the deal. A few tuners sell just the Line Mod, like JDM for $89.00

JDM Line Mod

Then others sell the entire valve body, which is a direct replacement valve plate. The one that PSP sells is designed and built by Factory_Tech (user here). he works for Ford and builds the L's trannys at work. He uses all ford parts, but uses the correct springs to work with the modified line valve... PSP sells it for $200

PSP (Factory Tech) Valve Body

More info from Gregg the factory tech here:

I've had both (and have the line mod valve from JDM if you want to buy it from me) and they seem to perform identical. But Gregg swears up and down that his is better for the longevity of the tranny. Since no one has ever disputed it, and he builds the tranny's for Ford, I listened and bought the vavle body...

Both are very easy to install, with an inch-pound torque wrench and 8qt's of merc/dex 3 tranny fluid.

Good Luck!
