Just painted red tailgate handle--If you too want one...
I just painted my tailgate handle 
If anyone is interested, I will paint a red handle for $30. That includes plastic adhesive promoter to reduce the possibility of chipping, sealer to lock out moisture, and then the paint.

Man, Silver is popular. 
I can do silver if I get enough requests, or any color, for that matter. I would need atleast 5 people for a batch run, or if your local and want to provide the paint, I will adjust the price.
Reality1, turnaround will be about a week. I won't paint them until the weekend, then they need to dry 48 hours before I can ship it, and then a couple of days for the mail.
Email me @ joshcohen77@yahoo.com if you want it done and we can make arrangements. For you local guys, if you have the handles to me by Friday night, they will be ready by Sat. night.

It's easy. There should be 6 torx bolts that hold on the cover on the backside of the tailgate. Take those off and then take off the (2) 10MM bolts that hold the handle on and pull it out. Pull off the clip, and the lock will come out.
