Torquing my bed...

No, this isn't some sexual thing...

I noticed my hard top cover was rubbing on the passenger side right at the pivot point on the front lip of the bed. I took it into the cover vendor and he said he'd fix it with some touch up paint and re-seal. Since the rub area is under the seal I'm not going to make a big deal out of it...

with that being said I wanted to know how it happened in the first place. After some investigation it seemed that the bed somehow has gotten toqued out of square a bit and perhaps some of the front passenger side tack welds may have broken.

I took some pics of the differences between driver and passenger. The bed on the passenger side is about 1/3" higher off the front bulkhead than the driver side.

The first pic is a far away shot so you can see the area I'm looking at, the 2nd is the drivers bulkhead, looks normal, and then the third is the passenger side, with a bigger gap...

what do you guys think?

The bed on mine was out of alignment so I did the following:

I didn't know of any tack welds.

Hope this helps.

Beefcake,

Maybe that's where big brother implanted the bug so they can watch your driving habits even closer

looks like the rubber seal that is on the drivers side isn't in place on the passenger side.
the gap that the arrow is pointing to in the second pic will be hard to "weld" back into place.. the bed sides are fiberglas.
