Water temp/Oil Pressure gauges
Anyone know where to mount the Water temp and oil pressure gauge sending units?
I can't find any place on the side of the block.
Pictures would be most helpfull.
Thanks

you utilize the point where the stock oil pressure sending unit attaches to the block.
area in question is on the front left (driver's) side of the engine.
much easier if you remove the wheel.

Any other alternative other than drilling out the thermostat housing.
I looked at the drain pet**** but do not believe the sensor will screw far enough in to block the drain off.
I hate to drill out the thermostat housing.
Also, what size "T" does that require for the oil? Special threads?

Andy,if you look under your truck near your oil filter you'll see an allen plug [14mm ?]Direct fit for an Autometer sending unit.Do it with a cool engine as you WILL get some coolant on you!
hope this helps,-Dave.

HI!... I hooked up my oil pressure guage (MECHANICAL) about the same way. The lower pic is how I hooked up my (MECHANICAL) water temp guage.

Andy,
pick up a second housing.. less than $20.
as for the fittings..
Best bet is to go to a hardware store with a nice selection of brass fittings, get under the truck and draw your own conclusion. It can be done, but it is more of a look-see process. All fitting sizes are 1/4" unless otherwise noted:
2 - 90 degree
1 - T
1 - 1/4 to compression (for sending unit)
1 new roll of teflon tape
1 - 1" male/male fitting.
NOTE: this is a good time to change your oil as loosening/removing the oil filter makes for much less mess when the OEM sending unit is removed. BTDT.
To get the wires throught he firewall,
1. Trace the black boost tubing you tapped into and gently unseat the gromet toward the engine bay.
2. Use a Dremel tool and a small drill bit to carefully burn a hole in the gromet.
3. Feed the wires though the gromet(cab to engine), grab the wires, and pull 'em through.
Good luck.
