Angry 6# pulley=slipping belt?

I installed my 6# pulley last night, and of course the stock belt wouldn't go back on, and all I could find was a 6 rib, so I could at least drive the truck. When 10# of boost comes around, it drops back down to 5 because of all the slipping. I've got my 8 rib on the way, but is going to hold all the boost? Or do I need to make other mods for this?

no, it really ticked me off! I called the company I ordered from and they told me, "Oh, you need a 68.5" belt." I was glad they told me that way later, in the instructions it said the "stock belt will work just fine." I figured I'd take their word for it.

Don't waste more $$. Get a Goodyear poly-type Gatorback belt(68.5?) from NAPA or other source.

Couldn't agree more......I just swapped belts (and pulleys ) last night. Those Gatorback belts are like glue.

Thanks DL, I owe ya for that one

68.5 is a little big. I would suggest a 67.5 or 67 whichever belt.

How the hell does a 67.5' belt fit a 6# pulley. It was really tight on my 4#.

This is of course considering you are not breaking the tab off the tensioner (still not sure why anyone in their right mind would do that )

Joe,

You're not hurting anything by taking that tab off. You're just getting a lot more travel with the tensioner so you can install the shorter belts. My tensioner tab has been off for nearly 35,000 miles and it works like new. I did the same on the accessory belt tensioner. With a 6# pulley I run a 67.5" belt and 98" belt on the accessories. Both are Gatorbacks.
