Popping Noises

I am getting some weird popping noises when I am turning and backing or turning period at slow speeds.

is this the clunk?? Did they fix the Clunk on the 02's??

Any insight or help would be apprecitated..

I also get alot of air down by the pedals..WOuld an airvent be stuck open?

At higher speeds it is alot of air..And the winter would loom cold I would think..

Thanks for any advice..Otherwise she is running great..Put a K/N in...Easy as cake!!

It's either the clunk or the pop. Smear thick grease all over your steering stops. If the noise goes away, it's the pop. If not, it's the clunk.

To confirm the clunk, look at the lower steering arm bolt under the driver's side of the truck, just behind the driver's side front wheel. If it appears to have shifted a few mm you have the clunk.

Mine's an 02, and at 4500 miles I have yet to have any movement resulting in the clunk. So far the lock washer installed at the factory appears to be holding. I do, however have the pop returning every couple of thousand miles. I guess I just need to use thicker grease, or figure out a way to install self-lubricating urethane bushings over the steering stops.

Thanks Folks!! I shall take your advice and see what I can do..

Airbox mod......Hmmmm...Your tempting me...

MATT

I will say one thing the pop does sound like steering or suspension..and it goes away after a just a short time of driving.

Such as start turn slow and pop..Drive awhile..slow down..stop
then start moving slow again...No pop
