Question Engine question. Vacuum device with no line attached to it?

I noticed this the other night. It's on the driver-side of the engine around the valve cover. It's bare. No vacuum line attached to it. Can someone take a look at this pic and tell me what the hell is up? I sure would appreciate it.

Thanks..

That's what I'm talking about but it's not a nut and bolt. It has a 1 1/4" stem and looks lke a vacuum connection.

Thanks..

NEVERMIND! Just found an identical one on the passenger side and can see it much more clearly. It doesn't have an opening. It's solid metal.

Thanks anyway..
