Denso plug gap?
THE DENSOS DO NOT COME PREGAPPED!!!!!!!!!
Not unless your tuner get's into the box and does it for you prior to shipment. If yours were correct out of the box without help from a tuner, it was either a coincidence or a miracle, depending on your religeous convictions. There are enough people here who have had to adjust the gap on these plugs to make that claim utter BS. Some slow-witted and trusting fool is gonna install them straight out of the box, without checking, and possibly screw some crap up and definitely not get optimum performance. It's probably already happened.
As many times as this has come up, why do some people continue to spout this drivvle every time a request for the proper gap is placed?
By the way the answer to the question is .040.

Lemme go find my damn boxes and take a picture for you odin. They were SEALED and marked PRE GAPPED! So unless Sal opened every one of them gapped them and then resealed them they were pregapped from the factory!
Does that mean all of them are? surely not, but my set was and was clearly marked. Soo KMA and have a good day.
Brandon
PS i did verify mine were the same before i installed and they were all set appropriatly.

Oh and since i 'spout' off about things i don't know about here is a nice webpage giving the Part numbers and their specs
http://www.iridiumpower.com/sparkplugspecs.asp
And a quote from the FAQ
Q. Do I need to set the gap?
A. Generally, no. The DENSO Iridium Power plug comes pre-set with a protective sleeve over the firing end, to protect the gap from accidental alteration. DENSO Iridium Power’s ultra-efficient firing power compensates for normally recommended gap settings that are smaller than the pre-set value. In the cases of vehicle modifications (nitrous, turbo-chargers, super-chargers, high power ignition systems, etc.), some adjustments may be desired. Or, if you prefer to remain consistent with factory specifications, you may adjust. However, please be careful not to place any stress on the fine center electrode during adjustment. You could accidentally break off the very hard, and therefore brittle, tip.
And according to all the tuners i spoke to this is a good gap for our trucks...so why would i change it?
Just thought you might wanna put that in your pipe and smoke it mister!

Both the Denso and the NGK spark plugs come pregapped. However, what gap they are factory set to may not be right for your application. According to the Denso 2001 plug guide, thE IT20 plug is pregapped to .044 and the IT24 is pregapped to .032. However, I just checked both and it seems more like the IT20 is .040 and the IT24 is .028.
Depending on who you ask, you'll get different suggested gaps for different combos, but here is what I suggest:
Stock boost to +2psi using IT20s- .038-.042
+2psi to +4psi using IT20s- .036-.040
+4psi to +6psi using IT24s- .032-.038
over +6psi using IT24s- .030-.034
If you are running nitrous, subtract .002 from the above.
Remember that as you add boost, you increase cylinder pressure. As cylinder pressure goes up, it's harder for the spark to jump the gap. This is why we suggest to lower the gap, when you increase boost. Same goes for nitrous, more oxygen, more cylinder pressure.
On my truck, I run 18psi and 150 shot and my gap is .028. Anything over that, and the truck breaks up at high rpms.
It is good insurance to check all your plugs anyway. But with the Iridiums, as mentioned, be very carefull to NOT touch the center electrode when gapping.

Sorry guys. Somebody must have gotten into my boxes and changed all the gaps, and then resealed them. They ranged from .035 up to .050. I know there are others out there with the same experience. Just because something is "supposed" to be true, doesn't make it so.
Who asks another man to kiss his ***? That's a little strange if you ask me.

Odin,
Its always a good idea to verify they are set the same, but as i said they were pregapped and marked as such. The electrodes on those are tiny. I was thinking about a pentel and its .5mm lead and how easy it is to break. I was VERY cautious when i checked mine. As I mentioned mine were all in line.

I believe this is warranted your KMA comment. I did not 'spout' off about anything, I stated what was on my box, and what is on their website...
Fwiw mine were around .042... I am sure the tool used for all of us will vary the gap we find...

Actually i still have it in an eariler post and was 'encouraged' to take it out =)

Just for the record. I didn't even look to see who posted about these plugs being pregapped. It's just not useful info if it is not always, or even nearly always true. Sal even said that the ones he checked were not at the advertised gap. Though they were pregapped at an unadvertised gap. If it is not the correct gap, then it is not pregapped. I'm sure that if everyone that had a wide range of different gaps on the densos posted about them in one thread, it would be enough to convince most people of this.
While I understand that you felt I was taking a personal shot at you. (I would have also, in your place.) I was venting a little toward "all" the people that post the same inaccurate comment. I'm not being personal in this either. Just forceful, in order to get my point across. A little shock value you might say.
